About the Event

Free Sunday concerts return to the newly renovated outdoor spaces at Scottsdale Civic Center! Experience the best local music in a laid-back, family-friendly atmosphere, surrounded by unique artist vendors, cold drinks at the bar, and plenty of good company. Bring your pup and lawn chair for some fun in the sun! 

Sun & Sounds (formerly known as Sunday A’Fair) will feature Tatiana Crespo’s Latin stylings and the combination of soul, folk, norteño, and Americana of Carlos Arzate and The Kind Souls. 

Tessa Karrys — noon to 1:30 p.m. 

Tessa Karrys is an Arizona-based singer-songwriter and performer. Karrys writes, performs, and (sometimes with the help of talented friends) records original music. She has performed extensively over the last several years at music venues, festivals, weddings, restaurants and bars, private parties, events, and f undraisers; as well as released an EP titled Begin in 2016. As a mom of two young children, she has taken some time off to enjoy family and raise her children, but she’s happy to be performing again around the Phoenix area and getting back to recording! Influenced by artists like Bonnie Raitt, Eva Cassidy, Bob Dylan, and Brandi Carlile, Karrys incorporates elements of folk, Americana, blues, and pop into her playing style and songwriting. 

Carlos Azarte and the Kind Souls — 2:30 to 4 p.m. 

Tucson native Carlos Arzate has been a standout member of the Arizona music community since the ’90s, first known for leading bands like Innisfail and American Android with his huge voice. While those bands were known for their loud, confrontational sound and message, he nurtured a deep love of soul, folk, norteño, and Americana, influences that finally found a home in his solo project, Carlos Arzate and The Kind Souls. The voice is still huge, but these songs also make space for a quiet, yearning, and—at times—sweet side, delivering passionate stories about social inequity, border realities, family, struggle, and triumph.
